About
Develop and deploy strategies to help small companies with DoD contracts comply with new Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certifications. Strategize, design, develop, deploy and lead cybersecurity efforts in the DIB CMMC ecosystem; Assist in the mitigation, response and recovery of cyber threats and incidents through the use of physical, technical and admin controls; Understand risk management as it relates to manufacturers and suppliers in the DIB; Apply cybersecurity frameworks, standards, guidelines and best practices as appropriate to the determined situation; Select and apply appropriate cybersecurity tools and methodologies to attain CMMC cybersecurity compliance with NIST 800-171. Due to ITAR and other access restrictions this project is limited to US citizens only. Beginning in March 2025, all manufacturers and suppliers to the Department of Defense (hereafter known as the Defense Industrial Base or “DIB”) will be required to comply with one of three levels of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) based on required security of the information passed to them by the DoD. Impact from non-compliance threatens U.S. military preparedness and superiority, the defense supply chain and ultimately, the socioeconomic welfare of the various rural communities within Georgia that depend on DoD manufacturing contracts for local employment. Estimates that as many as 5500 small to medium sized manufacturers (SMMs) in Georgia could be negatively impacted. SMMs do not have the time, talent or resources to meet CMMC requirements and will therefore be unable to continue to service DoD contracts or even bid for new contracts. Estimates run between 50 to 80% of the estimated 320,000 current DIB suppliers may become ineligible when the final rule begins appearing in 2024 contracts. The instructors in this course have been actively working with the Georgia DIB since 2020 as part of a state CMMC task force as well as work daily with manufacturers assisting them with CMMC compliance.
