About

The team will develop a cutting-edge exascale Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solver capable of high-fidelity and computationally efficient simulations of complex flow phenomena, including: 1. Turbulent flows: Essential for aerospace, energy, and propulsion applications. 2. Multiphase flows (e.g., liquid-gas interfaces): Critical for energy applications, biomedical flows, and climate modeling. 3. Fluid-structure interaction (e.g., interplay between fluids and deformable solids): relevant to biomechanics and engineering applications. Advanced numerical algorithms: Develop and employ accurate numerical methods, turbulence modeling techniques (such as LES and DNS), and robust multiphase flow modeling algorithms for superior accuracy in a variety of flow regimes. Exascale scalability: Design the solver for optimal performance on exascale supercomputing architectures by exploiting massive parallelism and cutting-edge hardware accelerators. Software architecture: Create a modular, user-friendly, and highly parallel software framework to facilitate ease of use and integration with other engineering simulation tools. Validation and verification: Establish a comprehensive validation framework using experimental data and benchmark solutions to ensure the solver’s accuracy, reliability, and robustness. Interdisciplinary collaboration: Foster collaborations with domain experts in aerospace, energy, biomedicine, and climate science to drive solver development and its application to real-world challenges.
